Recent reports have linked Ajax shot-stopper Andre Onana with a switch Chelsea after the Cameroonian admitted he was ready for a move away from the Eredivisie.
Andre Onana confirmed that he wanted to leave Ajax in the summer, saying he was ready “to take a step” amid links with a move to Chelsea as well as Spanish giants Barcelona.
The 24-year-old Onana has starred for the Dutch champions over the past four seasons following his arrival from Barcelona in the summer of 2015.
Following impressive displays between the sticks, the African goalkeeper has attracted interest from across Europe, with Chelsea emerging among the few clubs linked with a move for Onana.
Although Kepa Arrizabalaga has done well for Chelsea, Frank Lampard has also seen some errors from the Spaniard and dropped the 25-year-old on a few occasions to send a message across. Following his arrival at Chelsea as the most expensive goalkeeper of all time, Kepa has not lived up to his price tag. There have been reports that Lampard could decide to offload the keeper with a new number one between the posts for next term. Andre Onana has sent the following message.
Onana is contracted at Ajax until the summer of 2022, but while speaking to reporters he said he was ready to make a move away from Amsterdam.
While speaking to AD on Tuesday, the 24-year-old said, “Don’t get me wrong, I am very happy with Ajax and I am very grateful to the club It was five great years here, but now my time has come to take a step. We made that appointment last year. I don’t yet know what will happen, but my ambitions and agreements are clear.”
