Thomas Tuchel’s target for this summer’s transfer window Niklas Sule has reportedly agreed to extend his deal with Bayern Munich meaning that Chelsea will be forced to look elsewhere for defensive reinforcements.
Sule had been heavily linked to call it quits at the Bavarian giants this summer and seek a move to the Premier League with Tuchel’s Blues considered frontrunners to sign the Germany international.
Reports from German outlet BILD, however, claim that the central defender has finally agreed to break his contract standoff with Bayern and is set to put pen to paper on a long-term contract extension.
Fikayo Tomori’s exit from Stamford Bridge for Serie A side AC Milan and the doubts arising over the long-term future of Antonio Rudiger beyond this summer forced Tuchel to scout the transfer market for a new quality talent to field in the heart of the backline.
With Sule delivering a major snub to the Blues’ plans for the summer, the Chelsea gaffer will have the likes of Raphael Varane and Sevilla first-teamer Jules Kounde as his top name on the wishlist.
