Chelsea target Matthijs de Ligt has his heart set on joining Bayern Munich with the Blues owner Todd Boehly certain to accept defeat in his pursuit of the Dutch central defender.
The Juventus defender, who handed in a transfer request in Turin earlier in the summer to force a move away, was heavily linked with a Stamford Bridge arrival with Thomas Tuchel keen on landing his coveted signature.
Bayern’s entry into the mix, however, ensured that Chelsea’s hopes of moving in for the Holland international were stopped right in their tracks with the Bundesliga champions emerging as the clear frontrunners for De Ligt.
According to a report from the German news outlet BILD, it is claimed that even if the Chelsea camp offered a bigger wage to the former Ajax defender, he would snub interest from the west Londoners to join Bayern.
The 22-year-old is understood to have agreed upon personal terms with the Allianz Arena outfit with Bayern looking to table a generous offer for Junvetus to accept and sanction De Ligt’s exit from the Serie A.
