Chelsea target Boubacar Kamara is reportedly set to join Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa in a major blow on the transfer front for Thomas Tuchel and Co.
The 22-year-old midfielder has excelled for French top flight outfit Marseille and had been linked heavily with a move to the Premier League this summer with Chelsea and Villa joined by Manchester United in the race for his signature.
It is now understood that the highly-rated Kamara has decided to put pen to paper on a deal with Aston Villa and rebuff interest from elsewhere which would surely upset the Chelsea boss Tuchel.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano sounded out confirmation of the same with the Italian journalist claiming that Kamara signing for Aston Villa was a ‘done deal’ with gaffer Steven Gerrard’s role key to the transfer.
Tuchel is now expected to turn to alternative names in the market this summer with the likes of Aurélien Tchouaméni and Saul Niguez, the latter nearing the end of his Stamford Bridge loan spell, still names on Chelsea’s wishlist.
