Chelsea target Arsen Zakharyan is hopeful of securing his long-awaited Stamford Bridge move come January when the transfer window reopens.
The 19-year-old midfield talent was a name on Thomas Tuchel’s shopping list for this summer’s transfer window which slammed shut last week on Thursday as the Blues emerged as the highest spenders across the Premier League clubs.
Zakharyan was closely tracked by the Chelsea camp which were keen on recruiting the teenager, however, failed to reach an agreement due to administrative difficulties in making the payment to a Russian Premier League side.
Chelsea, meanwhile, brought in Juventus midfielder Denis Zakaria on loan with an option to make the transfer permanent with Tuchel hopeful that the signing bolsters his midfield options for the new season.
As quoted by a report from Sport Express, Zakharyan admitted that he was disappointed in not securing the switch to England to play for Chelsea but remains hopeful that the deal goes through in the forthcoming window in January.
“I survived [the failed transfer] normally. I have a contract with Dynamo. You have to play and show yourself. […] Well, I was a little sad, but already moved on. The guys teased me. They joked in the locker room. Regular jokes, nothing more.”
“I knew [Chelsea] were interested in me before. […] Of course, it’s nice that such advances are given to me, that big clubs are watching me. I will try even harder. There was an offer, but it just didn’t work out. You probably know the reasons. How could I refuse?
“Everything related to these things, we will decide together with the club. I cannot comment on this. I hope everything will be fine. To the next window? Maybe.”
