Brighton’s in-demand defensive talent Ben White has been aggressively courted by Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal this summer but Chelsea too are joining the fray for the England international, according to reports from The Mirror.
With Thomas Tuchel losing Fikayo Tomori to AC Milan earlier this transfer window and the Blues missing out on the signing of Sergio Ramos who is on his way to Paris Saint-Germain, Tuchel has been urged to bolster his backline options for the upcoming campaign.
White was a standout figure for Brighton at the back across the 2020-21 season which made him a hot prospect to watch out for this summer as Liverpool and Arsenal registered interest in making a move for him.
The 23-year-old is understood to be rated highly by Graham Potter at the Amex and with Arsenal having their opening offer worth £40 million turned down by the Seagulls, Chelsea will be required to fork out more than that should they wish to land his signature ahead of their London rivals.
Chelsea currently have the likes of Kurt Zouma, Antonio Rudiger and Andres Christensen as their young centre-back names but the latter duo are yet to agree upon improved deals at Stamford Bridge with their current contracts running only until next summer.
