Chelsea skipper Cesar Azpilicueta has put pen to paper on a two-year extension with the Blues to commit his future at the club until 2024.
Azpilicueta’s future had been subject to much speculation this summer with La Liga giants FC Barcelona keen on moving in for the Spanish defender much to the displeasure of the Chelsea camp.
Thomas Tuchel had asserted he would not be parting ways with Azpilicueta in spite of Barcelona’s repeated attempts to lure the 32-year-old to Camp Nou and it seems that Tuchel has got his wish in the drawn-out transfer saga.
A statement from the club’s website has confirmed that Azpilicueta will stay put at Stamford Bridge for another two years after agreeing and signing upon a new deal which means he is set to continue his decade-long stint in the Chelsea shirt.
Azpilicueta’s contract renewal announcement was soon followed by up another piece of exciting news for the Chelsea supporters with the Blues sounding out the signing of Marc Cucurella from Brighton.
