As stated by Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have bolstered its young talent pool by signing 18-year-old striker Deivid Washington from Santos.
Deivid becomes the second forward this summer to make the move from the renowned Brazilian Série A side.
Chelsea reportedly paid around €20 million for Deivid, with €16 million upfront and an additional 25 per cent (approximately €4 million) in potential add-ons.
Similar to Angelo Gabriel, another former Santos player, Deivid was expected to go out on loan right away, possibly even joining RC Strasbourg, which is co-owned by Chelsea.

While it was initially suggested that the youngster might follow a similar path and go on loan to Ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg, Chelsea confirmed his signing without mentioning a loan.
The change in plans regarding Strasbourg could be due to Chelsea’s need to manage the number of players they send on foreign loans.
Chelsea are allowed a maximum of seven such loan deals, and they have already completed five transfers to teams outside of Great Britain. Additionally, the potential loan of Romelu Lukaku could further impact this quota.
Washington, who is joining Chelsea on a seven-year contract, departs Santos with less than 900 minutes of senior football experience and just two goals to his name.
He is a versatile attacking player who can operate in various positions, although he is primarily used as a striker.
