Chelsea set to lodge a bid for Barcelona’s wantaway star Frenkie de Jong whose joining Manchester United this summer looks all but uncertain.
The Holland international midfielder is one of the top names on the shopping list at Old Trafford with the new Man United head coach Eric ten Hag keen to move in for De Jong to reinforce his options in the centre of the park.
De Jong, however, is not interested in making the move to Manchester with the Dutchman put off by the lack of Champions League football for United which could help Chelsea in their pursuit of the player, according to a claim from The Daily Mirror.
Tuchel could be convinced of tabling an offer to bring the former Ajax maestro to Stamford Bridge this summer with the Chelsea manager fretting over the long-term future of midfield man Jorginho beyond the end of the 2022-23 campaign.
Jorginho has been linked with a return to Italy’s top flight come the summer of 2023 with his old club Napoli as well as Turin giants Juventus keeping close tabs on the Euros-winning star who has just a year left on his deal with Chelsea.
