Chelsea are set to battle Real Madrid for Inter Milan talisman Lautaro Martinez who is wanted by the two clubs ahead of the start of this summer’s transfer window.
The Blues are out to bolster their front line which failed to hit the ground running last season and came under much criticism for the misfiring displays despite the club spending big on recruiting the likes of Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk.
According to a report from The Times, it is claimed that Chelsea could expect competition from Real Madrid in their pursuit of Martínez with the Argentine striker likely to leave San Siro before the next season gets underway.
Parting ways with Germany international Kai Havertz, who is another player on Real’s transfer radar this summer, could help Chelsea trim their squad size and raise funds for bringing in Martínez.
