According to the Sun, Chelsea will demand £70 million if Manchester United wants to sign Mason Mount this summer.
The midfielder will have just one year left on his contract and has thus far declined to sign an extension, despite the interest of newly appointed manager Mauricio Pochettino.
The club’s officials have informed the English star that they are prepared to sell him if he does not extend his contract, but they are unwilling to lower their demands.
The Blues have set a price tag of £70 million for the 24-year-old midfielder and have made it clear that they will not sell him unless their asking price is met.
This could pose a challenge for United, who are interested in Mount but are currently reluctant to offer more than £50 million due to his contract situation and their need to invest in other positions.

Chelsea is still hopeful of reaching an agreement to extend the academy graduate’s contract and is willing to continue negotiations. However, no significant progress has been made at this stage.
United is closely monitoring the situation and believes that their rival’s asking price may decrease if they fail to secure a contract extension with their star player.
Pochettino expressed his desire to retain Mount for the upcoming season but awaits developments regarding the player’s contract decision.
Regardless of Mount’s potential stay, Chelsea remains focused on strengthening its midfield. The club is considering moves for Moises Caicedo from Brighton and Declan Rice from West Ham.
Chelsea also aims to reinforce its attacking options and has added Inter’s Lautaro Martinez, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, and Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund to their shortlist.
