According to the latest reports, Maurizio Sarri is keen to make a £15 million bid for Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez in the January transfer window.
Chelsea re-opened their chances of a title race after a 2-0 win over Manchester City last weekend but the Blues are still the dark horses to win the Premier League title. Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has stated that the West London club is still not title challengers with the Italian claiming that a top 4 finish seems more realistic. Sarri still wants a few more midfielders to bolster the chances of Chelsea playing in the Champions League next term and Denis Suarez is on that list of targets.
Sarri is not keen on Cesc Fabregas to leave in the January window as the 31-year-old has lacked regular football. However, the Spaniard is keen to get more first-team football and will look at the options on the table in the winter window. Fabregas’ current contract expires in the summer and he can start listening to clubs from next month onwards. But Sarri has told the Chelsea hierarchy that he is not willing to let Fabregas go until a direct replacement has been signed.
Fabregas is considered to be the sole covering player for Jorginho in the squad as a deep-lying playmaker and Sarri believes that Barcelona man Denis Suarez would also fit the bill. The 24-year-old would be willing to leave the Nou Camp after appearing just once in the La Liga this campaign. He has been valued at around £15million by the Catalonian giants, who drew with Tottenham on Tuesday night.
Sarri is aware that AC Milan have shown interest in wanting to sign out-of-favour midfielder Cesc Fabregas and Chelsea have slapped a price-tag of around £11m on the former Arsenal midfielder Fabregas if a club wishes to sign him in January. But if Suarez arrives at Stamford Bridge, Fabregas could head elsewhere and his future at Chelsea would be somewhat finished as he would fall further down the pecking order.
