Chelsea risk losing out on signing AC Milan star Rafael Leao with the San Siro camp stepping up contract talks with the in-demand Portugal international.
Leao is understood to be one of the top names on Graham Potter’s wishlist of options to reinforce his front line which has earned much criticism this season for their underwhelming displays in the attacking third of the pitch.
According to a report from The Daily Express, however, the west London giants could be seen missing out on the 23-year-old wide player with Leao’s talks over a new long-term deal with the AC Milan camp gathering momentum of late.
He is amongst Milan’s key first-team regulars with 10 goal contributions to his name in 14 Serie A outings this season as some of the biggest clubs across Europe keep a close watch on his contract standoff at San Siro since the summer window.
The Blues had long been interested in moving in for the Portuguese talent but appear to have priortised a swoop for Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez during the January transfer window following his terrific World Cup campaign with Argentina.
