Chelsea are reportedly right in the mix for Crystal Palace wing-back Tyrick Mitchell with the race heating up to land the 22-year-old in the summer transfer window.
Mitchell was called up to the England fold for the first time on Monday as a replacement for the injured Chelsea star Reece James with the former impressing in the Palace shirt over the course of the season.
He is second only to Brentford’s Christian Norgaard for most tackles this campaign in top flight action and has been an influential cog on the Palace team sheet, missing out on just eight minutes of Premier League action since May 2021.
With Ben Chilwell’s long-term injury trouble coming as a major blow for the Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, the latter is mulling over launching a bid for in-demand Mitchell but faces competition from Manchester City, according to a report from The Sun.
Palace, however, are likely to be looking to pocket a big-money asking price should the gaffer Patrick Vieira choose to sanction the sale of on his key first-team players ahead of the new campaign.
