Chelsea have reportedly revisited their interest in signing Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde with the player emerging on the Stamford Bridge camp’s radar once again.
The speculation on the transfer front for Balde and Chelsea come as a surprise with the west London heavyweights tipped to move in for Balde’s club teammate Ousmane Dembele for the past few weeks.
According to a report from the Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo, Chelsea have reached out to the Barcelona fold and Balde’s agent Jorge Mendes with the hopes of landing the 18-year-old’s signature this summer.
It is understood that with Barcelona currently on the negotiation table with Chelsea for their two experienced Spanish wing-backs, César Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso, the Catalan club could include Balde as a makeweight in a deal for the defensive duo.
Both Azpilicueta and Alonso want a move away from the English capital before the transfer window slams shut but Chelsea have been reluctant so far to let them leave the exit door at the Bridge with Thomas Tuchel’s defensive options limited.
