According to journalist Rudy Galetti, English giants Chelsea are interested in signing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen this summer.
The 25-year-old was a key player for the Serie A side last season as he helped them lift the league title. He has continued his progress this term with 15 goals and four assists in 28 appearances.
The Nigerian star played well for his national side in the AFCON and his value will continue to skyrocket in the future. Chelsea always considered Osimhen as their main target in attack but due to financial reasons, they had to step back.
Napoli are looking for a fee above £120 million and the Blues won’t be able to pay that sum. They risk facing Financial Fair Play restrictions if they don’t sell some of their current crop of players.

🚨🎯 #Chelsea, #Osimhen is always considered the main target for the attack even if things are going slowly to date.

Todd Boehly’s side wants to clear their deadwood to balance the financial books and give them the ability to use those funds in signing Osimhen.
A realistic way of meeting the Italian club’s price tag is by paying in instalments. The deal is moving very slowly and other clubs might join the race soon.
Teams like Manchester United, Real Madrid and Arsenal have been linked with the player and all these teams want to sign a false nine. The same is the case with Chelsea who need a lethal striker upfront.
Nicolas Jackson has been wasting several chances in attack and the recent example is the FA Cup semi-final clash against Manchester City. The African star came under heavy criticism due to his poor performance in yesterday’s match.

Mauricio Pochettino needs to sign a more experienced and solid striker who can carry the team’s goalscoring burden next season. Cole Palmer has been the lone contributor upfront and the club will be out of ammunition if the player sits out.
Hence, Osimhen is the ideal choice and a trump card for the Blues. The club should make the first move if they are serious about their goals next season.
