Chelsea have reportedly refused to sanction Callum Hudson-Odoi to join Borussia Dortmund on loan in what are the final hours of the summer transfer window.
The Bundesliga outfit had emerged as suitors for Hudson-Odoi ahead of deadline day with the Chelsea player not expected to feature much this season for Thomas Tuchel’s side after Romelu Lukaku’s arrival.
Reports from The Athletic, however, claim that despite strong interest in his services coupled with a promise of regular first-team football, Dortmund will not be able to land Hudson-Odoi’s signature in what remains of the window.
Thomas Tuchel is understood to be couting on the England international to step up when given a chance and the 20-year-old will be staying put at Stamford Bridge beyond this summer having signed a new long-term deal less than two years ago.
The Chelsea boss now enjoys a host of frontline options following the big-money signing of Lukaku from Inter Milan with Timo Werner, Christian Pulisic and Hudson-Odoi all tipped to compete for the wide roles.
