Chelsea receive major boost in attempts to sign AC Milan shot-stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma

Chelsea’s extended approach to make a move for AC Milan and Italy shot-stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma could finally bear fruit with the highly-rated goalie stalling his contract talks with AC Milan heading into this summer.

Donnarumma’s current deal with the Serie A giants expires in the forthcoming summer transfer window and the club’s repeated attempts to tie down their first-choice option between the sticks to a new deal has failed to gain ground in recent times.

Reports from Football Italia claim that 22-year-old Donnarumma has now hit the break on the ongoing contractual negotiations with the Italy international understood to be seeking regular Champions League football next season which is not yet a guarantee for the San Siro outfit.

The Blues are believed to be considering a summer swoop for the AC Milan No.1 despite the presence of Eduoard Mendy at Stamford Bridge with the Senegalese having been a perfect fit in the goal since his move to west London last summer from Rennes.

New gaffer Thomas Tuchel is keen to make his mark in the summer window with some big-name arrivals and thus Donnarumma is one such name who can be brought in at a cut-price deal considering his contract saga to shore up Tuchel’s options at the back.
