According to the latest reports, Chelsea is prepared to sign Bournemouth center-forward Callum Wilson in the January transfer window.
Since taking over the job during the summer transfer window, Maurizio Sarri has transformed Chelsea tremendously. The Italian master tactician has helped the West London club to the 2nd place in the Premier League table only two behind leaders Manchester City. Chelsea is certainly title contenders but they need to sort out a proper goalscoring forward if they want to win the title.
Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud have found it difficult to score goals on a regular basis and Sarri cannot completely rely on the duo to win silverware this campaign. Heading into the transfer market in January, there is one player who has caught the eye of many and that is Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson.
The latest reports claim that Wilson is the prime target for Chelsea as the forward is showing his true instinctive skills in front of goal. Wilson has already notched up seven goals this season in just 13 appearances. In addition to his scoring, Wilson has also laid off five assists in becoming a key figure for Eddie Howe’s side.
Wilson’s excellent run of form has helped Bournemouth to sixth place on the League table as they look to compete in Europe next term. The 26-year-old also received a national call-up by Gareth Southgate to play for England this month.
Even though Chelsea are hoping for a big name striker in the January transfer window, the Scottish Sun claims that the Blues are ready to prepare a £35 million bid for Wilson in the winter market to lure him at Stamford Bridge.
The positive for Chelsea is that Wilson has already played English football and his experience in the league means that he does not really have to change his game a big amount. Wilson could be the poacher that Chelsea so desperately need in front of goal as Morata and Giroud could be used as back up.
