Chelsea are ready to compete with Liverpool for Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes as the Blues look to rebuild their engine room over the coming transfer windows.
Graham Potter’s side are widely expected to lose two key first-team midfielders, N’Golo Kante and Jorginho, in the summer with both out of contract at the end of the season and looking likely to head into free agency.
According to a report from The Telegraph, it is claimed that the west London outfit are keeping tabs on the 24-year-old Portugal international Nunes who made the switch to Wolves only last summer from Sporting Lisbon.
He is one of the potential targets for Chelsea who are also keen on the likes of West Ham United skipper Declan Rice, Brighton’s Moises Caicedo and Everton’s Amadou Onana with Potter looking to shape his squad by bringing in a fresh pair of legs.
A fee in the region of £55 million is said to be the asking price demanded by Wolves to allow Nunes to leave at the end of the season after the Midlands side forked out £44 million to sign him last summer.
