Chelsea reach verbal agreement with Atletico Madrid to sign Joao Felix

Chelsea have reached upon a verbal agreement with the Spanish giants Atletico Madrid to bring Joao Felix to Stamford Bridge on loan.

The Blues were in the market for a new signing to reinforce their attack and appear to have identified the Portugal international Felix as the man to provide Graham Potter with much-needed firepower in the front line.

According to a report from The Athletic, it is claimed that Chelsea are expected to fork out a fee in the region of €11 million to land Felix’s signature with the amount below what Atletico had been hoping to pocket from the player’s exit.

Felix had been determined to leave Atletico Madrid before the January transfer window deadline with the former Benfica starlet falling out of favor with manager Diego Simeone on the back of his curtailed game time in the Spanish capital.

Manchester United and Arsenal had been among the interested clubs over a possible loan transfer for the 23-year-old Felix who enjoyed a superb campaign at last year’s FIFA World Cup with the quarter-finalists Portugal.
