Chelsea have reached a transfer agreement with Monaco to sign defender Benoit Badiashile with no swap deal in the works between the two clubs despite the suggestion of earlier reports.
Badiashile emerged as a priority target for Graham Potter’s side with the Chelsea head coach looking to bolster his injury-hit backline in the January window with both Wesley Fofana and Reece James on the sidelines with injury troubles.
According to a report from The Athletic, it is claimed that the Blues have agreed personal terms with the France international Badiashile who is set to sign for the west London giants on a long-term contract with a medical in line to be scheduled.
It is understood that the Stamford Bridge outfit will sign the 21-year-old centre-back for a £33.6 million fee which is slightly less than what Monaco were hoping to pocket but the terms of payment would be favorable to the Ligue 1 side.
With their repeated attempts to bring in RB Leipzig starlet Josko Gvardiol since the summer rebuffed, Chelsea had identified the Frenchman Badiashile, who has earned two full caps for his nation, as their leading candidate to add to their backline.
