Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain have beat Chelsea to the signature of Inter Milan’s Achraf Hakimi who looks all set to secure a move to the Parc des Princes after drawn-out negotiations over the recent weeks.
Both Chelsea and PSG have been involved in a tough content for Hakimi’s signing with Inter Milan keen to offload their star wing-back for a hefty fee owing to the financial difficulties being faced by the Italians.
PSG had made the initial move for the 22-year-old Moroccon international but were soon challenged by Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea who were surprise entrants in the fray for Hakimi’s signature.
However, reports from Italian news outlet Gazetta dello Sport claim that the Blues have now pulled the plug on their approach for Hakimi with PSG poised to confirm their big-money signing very shortly.
Chelsea had made repeated attempts to lure Hakimi to Stamford Bridge with Tuchel’s side even in line to offer Spanish full-back Marcos Alonso as a makeweight in their offer for the Inter star but Hakimi had been understood to prefer signing for the Parisians over the west Londoners.
