Chelsea are reportedly pressing ahead with their efforts to sign Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia who could be their first capture of the summer transfer window.
Lavia was first linked with a move to Stamford Bridge last year before the promising Belgian signed for Southampton from the Premier League champions Manchester City on a long term contract.
Southampton, however, look set to drop to the Championship next season and it is said that Lavia would be keen to leave the south coast outfit in the hopes of signing for a bigger club across the land interested in his signature.
According to a report from Football Insider, it is claimed that long standing suitors Chelsea are pushing ahead with their approach to sign the Saints talent who is now a top name on their shortlist of midfield targets.
The 19-year-old’s arrival at the Bridge would provide the incoming Chelsea manager with a fresh pair of legs in the engine room alongside January recruit Enzo Fernandez and the fit again Frenchman N’Golo Kante.
