Chelsea are said to be preparing a world-record bid to sign Leicester defender Wesley Fofana this summer to bolster a depleted backline at Thomas Tuchel’s disposal.
The Blues are keen on moving in for the highly-rated Foxes centre-back but saw their opening offer turned down by the Leicester camp who are keen to pocket an astronomical asking price for giving the nod to the sale.
According to a report from football.london, it is claimed that the new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is open to going all out in his pursuit of the 21-year-old Fofana whose arrival would surely provide Chelsea with a quality presence in the centre-back role.
Boehly has splashed the cash on bringing the veteran Senegal international Kalidou Koulibaly to Stamford Bridge earlier in the summer window to make up for the twin exits of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.
However, there are murmurs that the Chelsea fold are mulling over signing another big-name central defender to add to their options at the back with the new season getting underway.
