Chelsea are poised to make Benoit Badiashile their second signing of the January transfer window with the defender on the brink of joining the Blues.
The centre-back, who has earned two full caps for France, emerged as the leading candidate for Chelsea in their search for a new defender to reinforce an injury-stricken backline that has lost a couple of its key players to the sidelines.
According to a report from The Daily Mirror, Graham Potter’s side are set to welcome Badiashile as their second recruit of the mid-season transfer window with the Monaco star’s medical scheduled to take place in the coming days.
The 21-year-old is tipped to put pen to paper on a six-and-a-half-year deal with Chelsea in line to land one of the most promising names in French top flight football who has already made more than 100 Ligue 1 appearances for Monaco despite his tender age.
His arrival at Stamford Bridge will provide the Chelsea head coach Potter with much-needed cover in the heart of the defence with Chelsea’s marquee summer signing in Wesley Fofana barely featuring due to injury.
