Chelsea are poised to complete the signing of Jules Kounde from Sevilla with Thomas Tuchel in line to land his longstanding target in the transfer market.
Kounde had been linked with a move to the English capital last summer with Chelsea on the hunt for a big-name defender to bolster the backline heading into the start of the new campaign.
With Tuchel’s Blues enduring a patchy form midway through the season which has put their title ambitions off track, the Chelsea manager is also staring at the face of losing both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen in the summer when their deals run out.
According to reports from the Italian news outlet Tuttomercatoweb, Chelsea are close to sealing Kounde’s signature from Sevilla with director Marina Granovskaia striking out the agreement with the La Liga outfit.
The deal is expected to go through come the summer with Sevilla reluctant to part ways with their star centre-back in January with Diego Carlos too linked with a move to England’s top flight.
