Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly can finally sign his long-standing target Cristiano Ronaldo after Thomas Tuchel’s exit from the Stamford Bridge job.
Boehly was keen on moving in for the unsettled Manchester United star Ronaldo this summer but the transfer was not green-lighted by the then Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel, according to the rumour mill.
Tuchel’s sign-off was of importance to Chelsea to make a move for the 37-year-old forward which came as a blow to Boehly’s plans of recruiting one of the biggest names in world football for his side in the first transfer window under his charge.
According to a claim from football.london, with Tuchel handed the sack earlier in the week following Chelsea’s shambolic start to the season, Chelsea could be in line to revisit their interest in Ronaldo come the forthcoming January transfer window.
It remains to be seen whether Chelsea hold out on approaching Ronaldo until next summer when the Portuguese superstar heads into free agency and could cost his suitors absolutely nothing barring his hefty wage demands.
