Chelsea on track to sign their long-term target Jules Kounde despite an injury setback for the French defender who is set to undergo “minor” surgery.
Kounde has been linked with a move to the English capital since last summer when his transfer fell through in the final stages as Sevilla upped the asking price only for Chelsea to pull the plug on a potential deal.
The France international centre-back, however, is now believed to be closing in on joining the Blues who are in the transfer market for much-needed defensive reinforcements following the departure of both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.
According to Goal’s Nizaar Kinsella, Thomas Tuchel’s side still on course to bring in the Kounde in spite of a recent scare on the injury front with the 23-year-old set for a surgery to heal his ongoing groin issue.
It is understood that the La Liga star would be eyeing a comeback to the pitch as early as the next three or four weeks which would be music to the ears of the Chelsea supporters awaiting their club’s first signing of the summer window.
