Chelsea have reportedly included Timo Werner as part of their offer to sign Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt in this summer’s transfer window.
The Blues are said to have made a €45 million offer plus Timo Werner going in the opposite direction to land De Ligt who has handed in a transfer request at Juventus after the long drawn-out impasse in his contract talks.
According to a report from Sky Sports, Chelsea are hoping to step up the chase for the Holland international centre-back with Thomas Tuchel on the hunt for defensive reinforcements in this window after having seen Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen leave.
Werner’s future in the Chelsea camp has been subject to much speculation with the summer window now in full swing as rumours gain ground that Tuchel will be looking to cash in on the misfiring German striker and recoup a sizable fee.
The player had linked with the Blues in a big-money £50 million transfer from RB Leipzig in June 2020 but has failed to hit the ground running in a consistent fashion two years into his Stamford Bridge stint.
