Chelsea are not likely to appoint Ruben Amorim as their new permanent manager with the Blues focusing their attention elsewhere in their search for Graham Potter’s successor.
Amorim’s name was linked with the Stamford Bridge top job with the Sporting Lisbon manager, who has earned plaudits for his work with the Portuguese giants, building a strong reputation across the game.
According to a report from The Atheltic, however, it is now claimed that the 38-year-old Sporting boss is no longer in the running for the Chelsea job with the initial shortlist narrowed down to just a handful of options with a decision expected shortly.
Amorim is understood to have made it clear that he is happy in Lisbon and has no plans of taking over from Frank Lampard at the Bridge when the latter leaves at the end of the season from his caretaker role.
The Chelsea ownership of Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali have committed to multiple rounds of discussions and interviews before zeroing in on the selection with the race for the managerial role viewed as wide open.
