Chelsea are reportedly nearing completion of the deal to sign Shakhtar Donetsk’s Mykhaylo Mudryk after hijacking Arsenal’s move for the exciting winger.
The highly-rated attacker was the top name on the shopping list for the Premier League table-toppers Arsenal and the North London giants were said to be close to signing him before Chelsea threw their hat in the ring.
According to a report from The Daily Express, it is claimed that Chelsea are prepared to pay more in advance to secure Mudryk’s signature than Arsenal who were keen on a structured agreement and fork out a smaller fee up-front.
Mudryk is free to agree on personal terms with the west London outfit with the Blues gearing up to welcome their fourth signing of the January transfer window and provide Graham Potter with some much-needed firepower in the attacking ranks.
Potter’s front line options have failed to deliver with summer signings, Raheem Sterling and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, far from their brilliant best when it comes to delivering in front of the goal.
