Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante is reportedly close to agreeing upon a new contract which would see him stay put at the Bridge beyond this summer.
Kante’s current terms were due to expire at the end of the season and despite talks underway between the player and the club, there had been speculation over the Frenchman looking for a move elsewhere.
The likes of Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona are had been keeping tabs on the World Cup winning midfielder over a potential summer transfer but Chelsea now appear likely to retain Kante with the Blues confident over the contract agreement.
According to The Telegraph, Kante, who is eyeing a return to the first team training from his lengthy spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on his hamstring, is in line to put pen to paper on a new deal with Graham Potter’s side.
Potter would be delighted to call upon Kante’s services ahead of this weekend’s London derby with Chelsea in desperate need of a win to escape their recent run of results which has them sitting 10th in the league table.
