Chelsea midfielder Jorginho completed his move to Arsenal on deadline day with the Italy international leaving Stamford Bridge with 213 appearances to his name.
The Italy international will pen an 18-month contract until the summer of 2024 with the option to extend his stay in North London by another year as Arsenal’s search for a new midfield signing came to an end with Jorginho’s arrival.
Mikel Arteta’s Gunners, who are leading the standings in the Premier League, were initially keen on a move for Brighton talent Moises Caicedo but had two bids for their top target knocked down by the south coast outfit.
A statement on Arsenal’s official website has confirmed that Jorginho will now don the Gunners’ shirt as he leaves Chelsea with a rich legacy of winning the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
Arsenal will pay Chelsea an initial £10 million for the Italian midfielder with a further £2 million to be paid in add-ons as the Blues balance their books after what has been a busy January transfer window for Graham Potter’s side.
