The Blues have been handed a massive injury boost as Tottenham Hotspur trio of Erik Lamela, Juan Foyth and Paulo Gazzaniga are doubtful for the clash against Chelsea this weekend.
Chelsea takes on Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur in a crunch clash on Saturday at the Wembley Stadium. The race for the top 4 is truly in the balance as there is just one point separating Chelsea and Spurs who are in 3rd and 4th place respectively.
Ever since taking over as manager of Chelsea back in the summer, Maurizio Sarri has transformed and instilled his philosophy into every player at the club. The Blues remain the only remaining side that is unbeaten in Europe and in the league as well.
Sarri’s Blues will face a tough test however when they travel to Wembley to face Mauricio Pochettino’s side but have a slight advantage with the players unavailable for the North London team. Spurs’ Argentinian trio of Erik Lamela, Juan Foyth and Paulo Gazzaniga could miss the game after returning from international duty.
Argentina faced fellow South American rivals Mexico during the international friendlies on Tuesday night and the three Argentinian stars will return to Tottenham on Friday giving them no opportunity to train with the first team at Spurs.
Pochettino is wary that the trio would not be mentally and physically fit to play a game of such a magnitude against one of the best teams in the world at the moment. This comes as a big blow for Spurs but a huge advantage to Chelsea as Lamela out of the three Argentine players have been in good form of late scoring 6 goals and notching up three assists as well this term.
Apart from Lamela, I doubt any of the other two Argentinian’s would be featuring for Spurs against Chelsea. But the 26-year-old winger could be a key player if Pochettino decides to keep Lamela on the bench for the London derby.
