Chelsea have made a U-turn over Romelu Lukaku’s highly expected second loan spell at Inter Milan with the Belgian tipped to leave the Bridge on a permanent basis next year.
Lukaku re-signed for the San Siro giants last summer after a horrid campaign back in the Premier League which convinced Chelsea to part ways with the striker who had a fall out with then-manager Thomas Tuchel.
According to a report from Gazzetta ( via Football Italia), it is claimed that Inter are not 100% sure about extending Lukaku’s stay beyond his initial loan spell and this could force Chelsea to look elsewhere for suitors.
Inter, meanwhile, are pushing to sign Marcus Thuram in January which opens the exit route for Lukaku as early as the New Year but Chelsea are not expected to be keen on his return to the fold at Stamford Bridge.
Graham Potter, recently appointed to the top job at Chelsea, has endured a difficult couple of weeks with his side suffering three defeats on the trot as the front line fails to provide the firepower up top.
