Chelsea make it clear to Manchester City that Reece James is not for sale this summer

Chelsea value their young defensive talent Reece James very highly and are not interested in entertaining any offers for him in this summer’s transfer window, claim reports from TalkSport.

Speculation had gained ground recently that Premier League champions Manchester City were keen to make a move for the England international who was a standout performer for the Blues last season.

With Manchester City backed to spend big this summer to overhaul their first-team ranks, the 21-year-old James had emerged as a target for the Etihad Stadium giants who are on the lookout for defensive reinforcements.

However, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is understood to rate James very highly and views the young full-back as an integral member of the first-team fold at Stamford Bridge heading into the 2021-22 campaign.

Chelsea’s interest in signing Inter Milan wing-back Achraf Hakimi had given birth to talk over James’ future in the Chelsea shirt but with the Blues set to lose out on Hakimi’s signature to Paris Saint-Germain, retaining James will be of much importance to Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea.
