Chelsea maintain a strong interest in signing longstanding transfer target Jules Kounde despite failing to land the French defender from Sevilla owing to pricing issues this summer.
The La Liga outfit refused to play ball on the pricing front and put off Kounde’s highly backed move to Stamford Bridge which came as a major blow to the summer plans of Thomas Tuchel.
Tuchel had prioritised a move for the young France international to bolster his options at the back but was unable to sign him in spite of making a last-ditch attempt in the final hours of the transfer window.
Reports from The Evening Standard back the Chelsea manager to revive his interest in the Sevilla star centre-back and keep close tabs Kounde heading into Janaury or the next summer with Tuchel understood to be an admirer of the player’s ability.
Restarting the talks with Sevilla remains on the cards for Chelsea, according to the rumour mill, with the Blues expected to make moves in the market to bring in a fresh face for the defensive department.
