The Blues are set to lose out to Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain for the signature of Sergio Ramos with the veteran Spanish centre-back on the verge of signing terms with the Parisians.
Ramos’ exit from Real Madrid amid his contract standoff had put Chelsea on alert to his transfer situation with speculation rife that Thomas Tuchel will be keen on bringing in the 37-year-old on a free transfer to bolster his backline options.
With Antonio Rudiger’s contract extension talks subject to much uncertainty, there had been talk of Tuchel prioritising a swoop for Ramos who would have brought a wealth of experience with him to Stamford Bridge.
Reports from Eurosport, however, claim that PSG have leapfrogged the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United to land the signature of the former Real Madrid skipper in line with the French side making some major moves in the transfer market this summer.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have already added Gini Wijnaldum, Italy No.1 Gianluigi Donnarumma and wing-back Achraf Hakimi to their ranks, the latter being another player who chose the Ligue 1 outfit over a move to the Blues.
