Chelsea are looking to sign a new first choice goalkeeper next summer in a sign of things that co-owner Todd Boehly wants to overhaul the squad at Graham Potter’s disposal.
According to a report from The Sun, it is claimed that the west London giants will be on the hunt for a new shot-stopper come summer 2023 which could cast doubt over the futures of both Edouard Mendy and Kepa.
It is understood that both Potter and Boehly are considering an upgrade in goal and could be open to dipping into the transfer market for a new signing with the club keen to bring in a big-name player to slot between the sticks.
Kepa, who was signed by Chelsea for a record fee of £71 million in 2019, has rediscovered his form since Potter arrived in the dugout but the Spaniard suffered a foot injury before the World Cup break and remained sidelined for the final weeks.
He pockets a sizable £150,000-a-week wage, and this could force Chelsea to green-light his move away from Stamford Bridge at the end of the season should the Blues step up their interest in a new recruit.
