Andreas Christensen is in line to be awarded an extended deal at Stamford Bridge by Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea side, according to claims from The Athletic.
The Danish central defender has been a hugely influential presence in the backline for his country who are up against the Czech Republic next in the Last-16 of the UEFA European Championships.
Christensen’s showings for both club and country over the past season has Chelsea chief Marina Granovskaia encouraged to hand the 25-year-old a much-improved contract which would commit his future on west London.
The reports, however, suggest that Chelsea may not enjoy as much leverage as they would hope for ideally considering Christensen’s growing stature in world football which will catch the eye of the other heavyweights across Europe’s football leagues.
Tuchel also has his other star centre-back Antonio Rudiger in the waiting line for a new deal with the German’s stay at Stamford Bridge coming to a close at the end of the 2021-22 season.
