Chelsea looking to add another year in Thiago Silva’s one-year contract

Chelsea’s veteran defender, Thiago Silva moved from Paris St. Germain to Chelsea in this summer transfer window on a free transfer deal and has been hitting the ground quite impressively. He has been massive in terms of performance and inspiration to the club players.

His influence in the backline has improved the defense quite significantly and the numbers do not lie- five clean sheets with nine games unbeaten.

The 36-year-old former PSG captain never seemed to be a long term signing but rather a short time fix to the leaky defense of the Blues. But after seeing the performance both on collective and individual levels, the Blues want to extend the contract.

As per  TMW, the club is very satisfied to see how the Brazilian defender has accustomed to the new League and the new club and that is the reason why they want to add another year in the deal.

Chelsea was severely criticized due to their ridiculous defensive displays in the previous season and currently, it seems like the world-class experience of Silva has added stability in their backline which was so susceptible to leak goals.

Chelsea struggled defensively in the last season, and it looks like the experience of Silva is helping Frank Lampard find a bit more stability in that department as the team looks much improved at the back this term.

This risky signing of Lampard has been so productive to their team that the fans are very happy as well. Silva has been massively successful for Paris and he knows what it takes to rule the premier league as well.
