Chelsea’s 20-year-old Conor Gallagher is about to embark on a new challenge at Crystal Palace. He is being loaned out so for the 2020/21 season so as to gain Premier League experience.
The young midfielder impressed during his spell with Swansea City and Charlton Athletic the previous season. The Chelsea Board thinks this to be the right time for Premier League exposure for this raw talented kid.
Lampard and co. believes that the English youngster has all that it needs to become a star and can develop more if he gets the opportunity to play for the first team.
In 2019, Gallagher was crowned as the Chelsea Academy Player of the Year and went on to score six goals when he was loaned out. The young English Midfielder has made a huge impression while playing for Swansea.
Due to Chelsea’s packed midfield, it is quite difficult for him to get even a few minutes at Stamford Bridge.
Despite his talent, Gallagher is down the pecking order with the likes of Mount, Hudson-Odoi, Gilmour, Jorginho along with N’Golo Kante, Hakim Ziyech, Mateo Kovacic, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek all fighting for the limited spot in the midfield.
Lampard sent Gallagher in place of the injured Hakim Ziyech in the pre-season friendly against Brighton where he gave his maximum effort for the team. The Chelsea board has prioritized to send him out on loan spells to the clubs who will guarantee the youngster first-team action.
