Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher earns his debut England call-up

Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher has earned his debut England call-up on the back of his stellar run of form during his stint away from Stamford Bridge.

The 21-year-old midfielder made the switch to Crystal Palace in the summer transfer window on a season-long loan arrangement to further his first-team involvement which had been hard to come by at Chelsea.

Gallagher has been an influential performer for the Selhurst Park outfit and his showings at the club level coupled with five players withdrawing from the England fold has led to Gareth Southgate issuing a call-up for the youngster.

Reports from BBC Sport claim that with the likes of Jordan Henderson, Jack Grealish and Chelsea playmaker Mason Mount absent, Gallagher’s addition to the Three Lions ranks will provide the boss Southgate a go-to option in the centre of the park.

Gallagher has netted four goals in his ten outings so far for Palace this season and has alerted clubs across the Premier League to a potential permanent transfer elsewhere ahead of the next summer.
