Chelsea are amongst the European heavyweights battling it for the signature of Real Madrid contract rebel Raphael Varane and it is believed that the Blues have made the central defender a priority target this summer.
Varane is backed to call it quits at Real Madrid ahead of the start of the next season with the World Cup-winning defender attracting considerable attention from abroad in his services.
Besides Chelsea who are interested in signing the France international, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are also in the reckoning to make an offer to Madrid for the 28-year-old star defender.
Reports from Sports Witness claim that Real Madrid have made it clear that they do not intend on losing out on Varane for a free transfer next summer and will instead be entertaining offers in the region of €60-70 million following the conclusion of the ongoing UEFA European Championships.
Chelsea’s concrete interest in the Frenchman is likely to have arisen from intense speculation that Champions League-winning hero Antonio Rudiger is pondering over his long-term future at the Bridge amid his contract standoff with the club.
