Chelsea keeping tabs on Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie

According to Football London, Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie is being watched by Chelsea as the blues look to bolster their midfield options.

McKennie’s journey has been a see-saw ride since joining Juventus as he has been juggling between being a consistent starter and more of a squad member. Since becoming increasingly involved with the Italian giant’s senior side this season, McKennie’s performances have caught the attention of other European clubs.

According to the report, McKennie is also being pursued by Leeds United, Aston Villa, Tottenham, Newcastle, Borussia Dortmund, and Atletico Madrid. N’Golo Kante and Jorginho are part of an ageing midfield for Chelsea that is in a similar situation. It’s not surprising that the blues has been linked to McKennie given that the Chelsea duo’s contracts expire at the end of the current campaign.

The American midfielder is anticipated to travel to the FIFA World Cup in November with his nation. A strong performance in Qatar might make things challenging for the blues in their pursuit of landing the 24-year-old.

However, it would be a wise decision to go all-out for him as the American star can play as a right midfielder and a central midfielder as per the need.

Graham Potter could get valuable competition for his players by signing by the Juventus star and it remains to be seen, whether the club makes an attempt to secure his services this January.
