Chelsea are understood to be keeping tabs on Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella with the player emerging as a name on the wishlist at Stamford Bridge for the summer window.
A strong working relationship with the Inter camp, after Chelsea allowed Romelu Lukaku to re-sign for the San Siro giants on loan earlier this summer, could make things easy for Chelsea should they make an approach for Barella’s signature.
According to a report from the Italian news outlet Calciomercato, the Blues are interested in bringing in a new midfield signing to bolster the options available at Tuchel’s disposal heading into the start of the new season.
The west Londoners were credited with a strong interest in moving in for Barcelona’s wantaway midfield maestro Frenkie de Jong but the concerns on the pricing front could make Chelsea look elsewhere for alternatives.
De Jong continues to remain a priority target at the Bridge with Chelsea likely to open talks with Barcelona soon to reach an agreement over the deal to sign the Dutch midfielder.
