As reported by the Evening Standard, Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has reportedly made Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham his top transfer target this summer.
Liverpool and Manchester City are also interested in signing the English international as his stocks continue to rise.
The 19-year-old is currently one of Europe’s hottest commodities, and if he shines at the 2018 World Cup, his worth is expected to soar much higher. It is expected that the top teams will engage in a fierce bidding war to sign the midfielder, probably next summer. Chelsea appears to be attempting to outbid Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester City in order to acquire the 19-year-old’s services.
Bellingham moved to Germany in the summer of 2020 and has rapidly progressed since then. The young midfield maestro is captaining one of the most successful teams in Europe and consistently producing outstanding results in the Champions League despite his young age. The 19-year-old has played over 100 competitive games for Dortmund and contributed to 36 goals along the road, solidifying himself as a key member of his team’s midfield in previous seasons.
The former Birmingham City starlet has four goals in as many Champions League games this season, in addition to two goals in two DFB Pokal matches.
Nearly all of the Premier League’s elite clubs, along with Real Madrid, are likely to give it a shot next summer, with Dortmund demanding an absurd sum of money over £120 million for their prized asset. Jurgen Klopp has long been considered the favourite to sign the former Championship player as he wants to upgrade his ageing midfield.
However, Todd Boehly has reportedly made plans to make a major move for Jude Bellingham in the upcoming summer. In the face of heavy competition, it remains to be seen if Chelsea can sign the midfielder.
The English star is well known for his inventiveness, playmaking, high level of energy, and adaptability on the field. He also possesses all the leadership traits to guide the Blues to success over the long term.
