Palmer has been the standout player for Chelsea in front of the England Manager Gareth Southgate. He restored the home side’s lead with a fabulous finish, extending his record to 11 goals and eight assists in a superb debut season for the Blues.
The impressive 21-year-old footballer has managed to achieve a remarkable feat by scoring and assisting in the same Premier League game five times this season, showing his consistency. His latest goal, scored after a well-executed play that involved Conor Gallagher, establishes his presence in the team.
Jacob Murphy scored a late goal for the Magpies but i just turned out to be a consolation as Mauricio Pochettino’s side were successful in wining against them with scoreline reading as 3-2. Palmer was very pleased to see Chelsea get back to winning ways after the disappointment of last month’s Carabao Cup final defeat against Liverpool and recent poor results in the Premier League.
“We’ve had some difficult results, obviously the cup final against Liverpool so to get the points is vita,” Palmer said to Sky Sports.
“We showed passion, courage winning the second ball and not getting bullied. As a young team we’re going to make mistakes.
“There’s so much talent around Chelsea that the fans don’t see and you [the media] don’t see. If not next season, the season after, you will see it sooner or later. We’re still in the FA Cup and hopefully win on Sunday to get to Wembley again.”
Chelsea are still in 11th position, but are within four points of the European spots and also have a game in hand.
