According to the latest reports, Frank Lampard’s Blues are preparing to return with an offer for Ajax superstar Hakim Ziyech in the summer transfer window.
The Premier League giants had initially made a bid for the Moroccan midfielder rejected by the Dutch side in the January winter transfer market, as Ajax were determined to keep hold of the player at the club for the remainder of the season.
However, with Chelsea planning for a big summer spending spree ahead, Frank Lampard will now monitor Ziyech’s situation for the remainder of the campaign and plan to add him to their squad in the upcoming transfer window after the end of the season.
The 41-year-old Chelsea manager was looking forward to bringing the dynamic winger to Stamford Bridge in January but was left frustrated by the club’s failure to seal a deal for Ziyech.
And now the Englishman is desperate to add a bit of experience and quality in his young team and the 26-year-old who has nine goals and 15 assists across and has 30 appearances this campaign would certainly help Lampard’s cause to secure a top-four berth in the Premier League.
Having their transfer ban now lifted, Lampard will have a massive budget of around £150 million to spend in the summer, plus whatever money is generated from the sale of fringe players that are not required at the club.
It is reported that French forward Olivier Giroud and Spanish winger Pedro are certain to leave when the transfer market opens in the summer, and they could be joined by Brazilian midfielder Willian as the 31-year-old is yet to sign a new contract, and even wing-back Marcos Alonso wants a return to Spain.
